Since near the end of last year, I knew I wanted to refine my brand and narrow my focus in my business. I knew creating the kind of imagery I want to be hired for is crucial to finding my ideal clients! So this year, I sat down and created an editorial calendar. I had a ton of support in doing this, and will share a blog post in the future on the value of collaboration and working with others! But my overall goal this year is to photograph two fashion and beauty photoshoots a month. This will help me create a really strong portfolio, narrowed in on exactly what I want to do. I am SO excited to share my first shoot of the year with you!
But first, I want to give a huge thank you to all the vendors who participated and helped make this shoot a success. First, the wonderful team at NIYA. NIYA is a modeling agency based in Salt Lake City, UT. They made booking the models a pleasant experience, and sent two sweet and talented models that were perfect for the desired look.
I also want to say thank you to Kailie, @kailiemakeupartist, for doing a beautiful job on the makeup. Also, a huge thank you to my friend and coworker/cophotographer Kirsten, for making the shoot so fun. Lastly, I want to say thank you to Bree Lena for the beautiful designs. These dresses were perfect for what we wanted in the shoot.
Models: Leila and Sherlyn from NIYA
Makeup Artist: Kailie Breitenstein @kailie.makeupartist
Friend/Co Photographer: Kirsten Leslie
Designer: Bree Lena @breelena
My inspiration for this shoot was the beauty, transition, and growth of spring. We began with a very natural look, showing the glow and dewiness of the model’s skin.
We then moved on to the growth of spring. Flowers and greenery began to move from being just props, to becoming part of the model’s look.
Lastly, spring erupts into full bloom, covering the gowns and models with sprigs and blossoms.
